Ochre Pays a Visit to the L’Occitane en Provence Museum

Open since 2010, dedicated to the brand and loyal to the grandeur of the world of Provence, the L’Occitane en Provence Museum in Manosque today dedicates its new temporary exhibition to photographs by Catherine Gardone. For almost three months, “Sensations Ocres – Un exotisme proche” pays tribute to the work of this artist who, established since 1971 in the Luberon region, discovered a passion for the ocher landscapes of the region and their beautiful and fascinating colors, resembling those of the Grand Canyon.

The few dozen photographs displayed and signed by Catherine Gardone were taken along the Roussillon Ochre Route. If above all else they showcase the unique beauty of ocher, this earth rich in iron oxide and made of pure clay that naturally occupies the decor, they also go much further by illustrating the reaction of visitors, all amazed by the colors, oscillating between beige and red, of the landscape.

To complement the exhibition, the L’Occitane Museum has also teamed up with Ôkhra, the Ochre and Color Conservatory located in Roussillon, which for the occasion, agreed to relocate three windows of its cooperative.
